About the Company and Opportunity:

• Our client is a very unique non-profit organization in business for 50 years!
• Due to significant growth, they are looking to bring on a Staff Accountant to work on a contract-to-hire basis

• Schedule: 8 am-5 pm M-F, 100% in office in Linthicum, MD. Hours can be flexible depending on the candidate's needs
• Reports directly to the Accounting Manager

Job Duties:

• Maintain assigned general ledger accounts
• Perform bank reconciliations monthly and handles inquiries from banks
• Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts
• Verify accounts payable invoices are paid and ensure payments are charged to the proper accounts
• Assist auditors by gathering necessary documents in order to complete the annual audit
• Coordinate with the software vendors to maintain accounting software systems and recommend updates to enhance the accounting software
• Accurately prepare tax reports
• Assist with payroll as needed
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications for the Staff Accountant:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is highly preferred
• 3+ years of accounting experience required
• Non-profit experience is highly preferred
• Experience using Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains is a plus
• Proficient Excel skills required
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Knowledge of general financial and cost accounting
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
